Nativity, Leiden (The Netherlands), 2005.
Snow reflief of the “Nativity Scene” by Rembrandt.
Finnish artist Antti Pedrozo and me worked on this 8,5 by 2,5 metres piece during an icesculpture event in Leiden, 2005.
In a circular chamber (Ø 7,5 m) we created two reliefs: the “Honderd Gulden Prent” and the “Nativity Scene”.
With the wall being half a metre thin, we had to work very precize: measuring centimetres and working with different layers to create the depth that was so typical in the original picture.
